Tabbing is the application of small adhesive circles along the opening edge of a folding mailpiece to keep it closed during mail processing and delivery. The adhesive tabs are specially designed to meet the detailed specifications of the U.S. Postal service for size, composition, and strength. The number, size, and position of the tabs is dependent upon the size and geometry of the mailpiece being tabbed and are specified by the USPS regulations.
